Storage for three months in Florida

(1/1)

joseph lamb:
Cliff and all ,

I am doing something I have never done , after decades of always driving my cars , I have to park them for three months without starting or running them .

Concerned all my carbs could be messed up if I just leave and do note store them correctly

Do I just run them dry ?? do I fill them with ATF ??? the list is long , Stabil in the fuel ??

or do nothing at all ????

I am in Tampa Florida , so cold is not on the menu .

I have the ability to OVERTHINK and over search the concerns on the forums

thanks for the information

I have never had any issues when storing my hot rod for the winter months, usually for 5 months.
I do fill tank and put fuel stabilizer in tank as you had mentioned. I use highest octane fuel available which is not suppose to have ethanol in it. (at least that's what they tell us).
First start it takes a few cranks to get fuel back up to carb, although you could probably put a few squirts of fuel in carb to get it going quick.
Do the same thing with all my seasonal yard engines and never have had a problem.

You may not freeze but you will have condensation both inside the gas tank and inside the carb.  Ethanol-free fuel will greatly reduce the chance for corrosion, even if only 3 months.
