  This doesnt look like a self guided drill bit . Looks like a regular drill bit.

Is this picture wrong? I dont see a smooth smaller size pilot shank to guide the cutter...

First part of the drill bit is the guide, the cutting part is further up the drill bit.

GSP7:
OK I see..... Looks like the drill bit was turned down on a lathe or grinder with a cutting step left
