Off idle lean condition, suggestions?

 True,  I've taken that into consideration. Just kicking up the initial timing didn't work out.
 I think I'll have to try playing with the distributor weights and centerplate to get a bit more max timing. I'm just a bit hesitant about adding too much because I can't hear the detonation if it occurs due to my hearing for one, and the lack of guts in the "mufflers". I don't want to find out the hard way that I added too much.

With a properly adjusted carburetor idle/lowspeed circuit, altering the ignition curve is seldom if ever needed.

Off-idle hesitation is nearly always cured with larger downchannels.
Your Cadillac carb has around .046" downchannels and they need to be around .052"-.055" for your Chevy engine.
Also look for .035"-.036" idle tubes and .090"-.095" idle needle holes.
