Q-Jet on open Intake
« on: April 17, 2025, 10:59:39 AM »
Does anyone have any real experience running a Q-Jet on an open plenum intake. Bog, stumble etc.
I was thinking about milling the top off the open Edelbrock and welding on a Q-Jet flange off another intake to make it the overall same height. 600HP BBC

Ran one on a Edelbrock Torker 2. I TIG welded an adapter to the factory square flange and then spend a few dozen hours blending it together for a smooth transition. It ran okay. But like a typical single plane it was soggy down low. And tire spin actually got worse because the car was already rolling when power came on. So instead of loading the traction bars with the primaries when I stomped the throttle. The car would start moving and 20 feet out when the secondary side opened power came on and the tires would break loose. No amount of traction bar adjustment or secondary air door tuning helped.
I never took it to the track with the single plane, but after a month of fiddling with it on the street I pulled it off and gave it to a buddy for his mud truck.
