Should I use this 7027213 QJet on my old Stock - Super Stocker Wagon ?
Cliff Ruggles:
They are the same in performance potential. About the only real difference is that the 207 has small main airbleeds, and smaller upper idle airbleeds, so it will require slightly less modifications than the 210. The choke pull-off set it is also different, but not a difference as far as performance potential is concerned. Otherwise, they are pretty much identical carburetors.
The 207's usually bring quite a bit more money, because they have a pretty decent idle and main fuel calibration right out of the box. With the knowledge from our book about custom tuning, any difference between them quickly disappears. I have one customer running an early 355cid powered Camaro going 9.30's at over 150mph with one of those style carburetors, if you are curious as to the performance potential?......Cliff

Thank You for the response Cliff !
The #207 has been the carb desired by us Stocker and Super Stock guys forever. Just when you about give up, I came across one and grabbed it. Now I can build it for my Wagon.
What fuel pressure do you recommend at the needle & seat ?
Glenn
Cliff Ruggles:
Yep, old trends are hard to break, and has driven up the price of the 207's over the years. That surprises me, as they have no performance advantage whatsoever over any other Chevy divorced choke carburetor made between 1969 and 1978. Change 4 airbleeds, idle tubes and a couple of bypass air holes and any other casting is dead even with a 207, and most can be had for $5 to about $25 at swap meets.
Several ways to go with the fuel inlet seat and float. The fuel delivery system must be adequate for the power level. I prefer to stay slightly smaller with the inlet seat, run a small float, and then a tad more fuel pressure. Contact us by phone or email and we can go over specifics and get you the correct parts, etc.....Cliff
AHotRod:
Thanks again Cliff !
I'll be calling Monday, as I'm ready to get this or one of the other carbs done.
Glenn
Cliff Ruggles:
Sounds great! If we don't pick-up, leave a good message and we'll call you back.....thanks...Cliff
