Which quadrajet
Photokinetics:
My son is the one that put the camshaft in and the only thing he remembers is that it had 600 lift. He said it's a little stronger than a RV cam.
77cruiser:
Lift don't mean much it's the duration & overlap.
Photokinetics:
The carburetor I have says it's off of The 1975 Buick 455 so it should be jetted for a big engine perhaps I can take the parts out of that carb and put it into the Chevy carb after rebuild and that would be a good starting point?
Kenth:
Your 1976 17056540 Buick 455 California carb should have #75 jets, 49K pri. rods and DB sec. rods.
Your 1979 17059222 Chevy 305 carb should have #71 jets, 40K pri. rods and CH sec. rods.
Since your Chevy carb has the large .120" main air bleeds you can go with the jetting from the Buick carb for your 454. You may find you´ll need larger jets, like #78-#79 after test drive.
Use the CH rods for starters. Later on look for DA, CE or AX sec. rods.
Cut the stop for airvalves to have full flow, aim for 1.37" measured from open valves to back of chokeblade housing.
Transfer choke blade and shaft from the Buick carb for a functional choke on your Chevy carb.

Cliff Ruggles:
Either one of those would work fine. The Chevy is going to be a little easier to use having a side fuel inlet and Chevy throttle linkage.
They will need a little help in a few areas for what you are doing. When you are ready to proceed call me at the shop, 740-397-2921...tks..
