Adjusting Secondary Air Flaps
Cliff Ruggles:
"I do have a 1/2” open spacer under the carb, and recently I read that you tested those and found they actually hurt performance on dual plane intakes. So I probably need to rethink that."
That's too much open area above the divider. I've tested open spacers and open gaskets. More thatn about 1/4" of open area between the carb and dual plane intake can and will cause transition issues going quickly to full throttle. I'd get rid of the spacer or make a divider for it.....

If you need a spacer go with a 4 hole phenolic.

Sorry, I just now saw the last 2 replies here. I’d prefer to keep a 1/2” spacer because at that height the air cleaner seals to the bottom of the hood. I have a TA Performance 1970-72 Stage 2 Hood Scoop installed on the hood. But I do have a 4 hole phenolic spacer I can use or one that’s only divided down the center. I’ll try playing with those.

Big surprise! Cliff was right again. I had made a lot of progress on this problem, but never completely eliminated the bog. So I modified a 4 hole spacer into a divided spacer (divider down the center), and that worked. Now there is no bog whatsoever. So if Cliff recommends something, you might want to try it before you argue with him. In my experience, his advice has always been right on the money. Thanks again Cliff!
Cliff Ruggles:
Good news, glad you sorted it out!
