Previous pics were to show results I het from straightening. These show a carb I am working on that is disassembled, but I can flatten them with airhorn together and main body somewhat together.

Pretty slick. So how thick are the plates? From the pictures I'm guessing about 1.25".

Pav8427:
3/4 cold rolled bar stock that I skim cut to make flat.

UPDATE:

Well I figured out what was going on. I screwed up, I had tied the secondaries closed for WOT testing but I didn't notice that the wire I used didn't let the secondaries close completely. I wrapped it around the lockout lever and wedged it between the lever and base plate which forced the throttle open slightly.
Of course when I pulled the carb i took off the wire, so when inspecting it nothing looked wrong. Oops!
That was a waste of a day.

GSP7:
Is the bottom of the main fuel bowl to base/ throttle plate where the thick gasket goes supposed to be kinda curved / not exactly flat? Then the thick gasket compresses and seal .

That Qjet power dude has a video where when tightening the screws base plate to bowl bottom, you shine a flash light in there to see and gaps where light shows a void, and then tighten the screws until the gasket quenches and seals with no light visible

every one of my parts carbs, disassembled (5) bowl bottoms surface is curved a little where the base plate attaches,,, but the top is flat and air horn is flat
