Does anyone have stock specs for a 7028211??
« on: December 01, 2025, 02:01:34 PM »
This would be a 1968 Chevy 396 carburetor.  I need idle air bleed / idle tube / main air bleed sizes.  Full calibration data would be helpful.  Thanks!!!

I had a '68 Caprice with the 396 in it, I don't know if I still have the carb for that or not, I do still have the engine though. Mine was the 325hp version.
I'll look tomorrow and see what I have. Chances are that the carb was replaced before I got it anyway, but you never know.

Novadude,

I went through all my carbs, both good and junk, none match what you're looking for. I don't think mine actually had the original carburetor on it, right now it's got a 17057213 sitting on it. The closest I could find fits a '69 Cadillac 472, or a '69 Vette 350, neither of which would be close.
 I'm sorry I couldn't help.

 Rick

I'd like to know what the specs are for the 68 396 as well.  Even though the carb I've got on mine isn't the right one, now that I know how to "adjust" one, I'll make this one match the original.
I hope you find the information you need. Best of luck.

That's what I am after.  I have a near-stock 396, and I was curious as to how pre-emissions BBC carbs were calibrated on the idle circuit.  I believe most of these early BBC carbs had airhorn upper idle air bleeds, but I am not sure about sizing of idle bleeds and tubes.
