WARPED MAIN BODY
« on: January 21, 2011, 07:00:03 PM »
I'M REBUILDING A 1968 OLDS Q-JET, THE PROBLEM IS WHEN I LAY A STRAIT EDGE RULER OVER THE TOP OF THE MAIN BODY CASTING THERE SEEMS TO BE A SLIGHT CASTING RAISE EXACTLY OVER THE HOLE FOR THE AIR CLEANER STUD. IS IT POSSIBLE THE AIR CLEANER WAS TIGHTENED UP SO HARD TO PULL UP THE CASTING CENTER. ALSO SINCE IT IS ONLY ABOUT A .005" BUMP, DO I NEED TO UNWARP IT? THANKS

Wow!, only a .005 bump. That is real good for that carb being that old. I'd say youd probably be ok with the thick top gasket.
