1966 q-jets metal clips the hold power piston in, anything new

Anyway i can put plastic white washer on top of the non plastic type, the metal clip that slides over power piston main body of carb. brohe in half?? How do you get the plastic washer on top side also??

Cliff Ruggles:
The early power piston wells are not machined for the plastic retainer.  You can either use the stock internal retainer, or the aftermarket external retainer.....Cliff
