Modifying Marine 17080561
« on: February 23, 2011, 06:27:09 PM »
Cliff, I received the HP rebuild kit, bushing kit and book (signed copy no less!).  Thanks.

My 17080561 Qjet for Chevy (Marine) 383 (320 HP@5,200 rpm) matches the First Recipe very closely, except for the following:
Upper idle air bleed (air horn): Recipe=.050-.052; Qjet=.043
Main air bleed (air horn): Recipe=.070; Qjet=.050
Main air bleed (body): Recipe=.070; Qjet=.050
Do you recommend I make the enlargements?

Also the original idle tubes= .026 and the new ones in the HP kit are .032.

Thanks again.

The Marine units are NOT emission calibrated, and they bring down a LOT more fuel everyplace, as Marine engines are heavily loaded when in use.

I would NOT open up the airbleeds anyplace, and use the stock jets and metering rods.....Cliff
