Idle down channel replacement
« on: March 20, 2011, 12:38:13 AM »
I was rebuilding a 17058278 q-jet for my Pontiac 400. I installed new idle tubes that I drilled .038" and drilled the idle down chanels .055". I found the problem I was having with the q-jet that was already on my engine. Now I want to rebuild this 17058278 back stock and sell it. Will the drilled idle tubes and down channels work on a stock engine? I can install new idle tubes but what do I do about the down channels that have been drilled out?

It can be replaced with a new restriction that Cliff sells. (same deal as an air bleed restriction).
I dont know if the larger size would not work on a stock motor. (im thinkin it would with some tuning).
Anyway, it can be fixed back to stock if needed.
Was this the factory carb that was used on the Trans-Am? I know alot of people are really starting to jump on the T-A restoration wagon.
