Hot air choke
(1/1)
Paul:
Whats the best way to plug the vacume port on the carb for the hot air choke? im going to eliminate the choke all together, but if it turns out its needed due to cold weather ( it gets down to -20 in the winter very regularly ) I will convert it to electric.
omaha:
I guess I would drill and tap the hole and install a small "set screw" maybe with some locktight or (more permanent) use some epoxy. Theres some other ways too. I've seen small ball beaarings driven into the hole. If you cant find the set screw you could use a regular machine screw and just trim off the excess carefully. Ive also heard of lead balls (think fishing weights) being used to plug the hole. Last in the options would be just packing the hole with marine tex epoxy but im n ot sure if this last idea cause maybe it would work itself loose (???)
Paul:
thanks. I like the set screw idea, or better yet, the lead sinker idea as long as it doesnt work loose.
Cliff Ruggles:
I like to melt a small amount of lead into the hole and hit it with a small flat punch. Lead is easily removed later if/as needed.....Cliff
Paul:
Lead sounds good to me, thanks.
