Will we figure it out before it's too late?

Cliff Ruggles:
Thanks, I don't even like shopping at Walmart anymore, everything in there is made overseas!........Cliff

Mr. P-Body:

   Here's a hint!

Bumper sticker on my sister's Chevy in 1980: "Hungry? Out of work? Eat your Toyota!"

I completely agree, we NEED to make what we use.  Unfortunately, the almighty dollar is one of the main measuring devices on the planet. As long as Americans are going to hunt for a "bargain", there will ALWAYS be a "cut rater" in the wings, just biding their time...  You won't find any non-American made cars in MY driveway... (well, it's a START!)

Jim Jones:
Pardon the rant but..... >:(

The current administration has a purely government based agenda.  The previous administration had a corporate based agenda.  The house and senate have become so accustomed to having money to spend, that they have lost sight of how to spend it responsibly.  They have become power drunk. 70% of economic activity is in the hands of the consumer, thus the consumer drives the market. Until we elect an administration and legislature that has a market based philosophy, we will continue to see people in the U.S. struggle.  Vote accordingly.

I don't think our Congress has the ability to think straight.  All they can think  about is vote party line not what's good for the country.  I am sick and tired of the pork spending that these knuckleheads are doing or should I say not doing.  Everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else about our current situation.  What started the whole problem, lets call it what it really is"Greed".  Our banking institutions and oil companies wanted record profits, and they got them.  The bad part was the price of fuel went up so high that everyones driving habits changed.  The effect was less driving and less spending.  As for the banks, I wouldn't have bailed them out, screw them, they made a bad business decision and now WE are paying for it.  The person who decided to give loans to people that a ten year old wouldn't lend money to should be slapped and sterilized so it can never happen again.  So lastly the election, when people vote for someone because they want change.  What the heck is change from worse to worse, are automakers are circling the toilet bowl folks.  I just read that Pontiac is gone, I really liked Pontiac, drove a 1969 Firebird to High School, going to miss them.  Look at the labels when you buy something and if it's Made in USA buy it before Made in China.  Lets put our people back to work , and give them the pride they need to go down to the Unemployment and Welfare Offices and tell them, I'm working now take my name off of your lists for assistance.  NAFTA should be torn up, US jobs left when that piece of paper was signed.

Jeff K:
Cliff, I blame the whole mess on the "me generation" taking over.. Those old time depression era Americans would of never let all this happen... My barber (90 years old) use to say," why not do it for thew good of it all instead of making more and more money"... He started predicting this whole mess in the early 80s!

I saw the writing on the wall in the seventies living in Pittsburgh.. They wanted to brake the unions and this is the result.. As much as I'm not real union supporter, we (American workers) were better off with them in power....

I once saw a clip on "The Nightly Business Report (PBS)", the head of the AFL-CIO was fighting in a forum against a rep from the European Union for stimulus money! It made me sick that Americans have to fight for there own money in severe times of need....
