17056240 jet size question

(1/2) > >>

Mr.Pontiac:
After about 3 hr, of removing outer booster rings and polishing the front venturi,s up i want to install a set of jets,NOT RUNNING A POWER PISTON, should i go with a set of 65 or 66,s for this unit?? Going with small float and a .140 needle and seat. Also does the .036-7 idle tubes sound correct???

Cliff Ruggles:
Those will usually want more jet than that with the outer booster rings removed.

Idle tubes required would depend on what application you are going to use it on?.....Cliff

Mr.Pontiac:
Drag race on my 67 gto, want to see if car can handle a little more cfm

Cliff Ruggles:
We have the smaller 750cfm units going mid-9's around 150mph in Super Stockers.

The larger castings will easily handle 600hp.  On my own engine I only see a few hundreths between a 750cfm carb and the later "800's".  My engine will make over 550hp and 600ft lbs torque.

We usually don't remove the outer booster rings unless the engine is over 600hp, those units flow very close to 900cfm.....Cliff

Mr.Pontiac:
68 jet be ok then?? Going to sell off the carb. for future investmants in my car.
