assembly tips
« on: February 17, 2012, 03:44:58 PM »
Cliff,
R'cvd the re-colored carb today. Looks great. Thank you.

There is a little bit of blast media in the screw holes. I'm going to blow it out with air. I would like to blast some carb cleaner or brake cleaner in the holes. Will any of this damage the finish? Is there a suggested cure time before I do this?

I also scored a NOS baseplate to go with it. The throttle shaft is tight but not as tight as a re-bushed unit. Do you typically bush new baseplates? I don't really want to tear into a new baseplate, but on the other hand??

Thanks

It's a good idea to put bushings in it, as the factory tolerance was loose enough to allow unfiltered air into the engine at idle speed.

I recomend chasing all the threaded holes with a tap, you will need an 8-32 and 10-32 tap bottoming tap.....Cliff
