Recipe for an Edelbrock carb 1904
« on: March 12, 2012, 08:38:04 PM »
I bought a crate ZZ3 engine, complete, carb to pan.  The engine has 1,600 miles on it.  It was bought in 1996 and has either sat in the crate or in the car for over 10 years.  The friend that I bought the engine from lost interest in the car, offered to sell it to me, but I did not have the room for another car!  So, I told another friend about the car and he bought it.  He is a huge big-block Chevy guy, has several of them sitting around.  He decided to put a big-block in the car and sold the engine to me.  As I said, it has been sitting for over 16 years.  As far as I know, when he drove the car home, after purchasing it, that was the first time the car had run in two years.  So, being 16 years old I know the carb it not set up for today's gas.  Here are the engine specs:

High Output 350 (ZZ3)
PN: 10185072
Displacement: 350 cubic inches (5.7L)
Horsepower: 345 at 5200 rpm
Torque: 387 lb-ft at 3250 rpm
Max rpm: 5800
Compression ratio: 9.8:1
Bore and stroke: 4.00 inches x 3.48 inches
Pistons: cast hypereutectic aluminum
Rods: 1053 forged steel "pink"
Heads: cast aluminum, angled plugs, 58cc
Head specs: 1.94"/1.50"
Cam shaft: hydraulic roller tappet
Rocker arms: roller (comp cam) (I installed these)
Cam specs: 208/221 .474"/.510" 308/316 (advertised)
Lobe separation: 112 degrees
Idle: 750 rpm

I would like a recipe recommendation for rebuilding the carb for today's fuel.

The "recipe" required to set the carb up will be found in our book.  We can supply a kit and tuning parts to get the carb up to par for modern fuels.  Two different agenda's here, dialing in the carb exactly for the application, and using parts that are designed for improved performance, and compatable with todays fuels......Cliff
