Can the EGR port be used for dist vacuum?

(1/1)

gkz:
My carb (17056206) has the factory dist vacuum originating below the throttle plate (driver's side), which would be manifold vacuum. The EGR source is just above the throttle plate (pass side), so that would be ported vacuum, right?  Since I'm not using EGR, can I use the EGR port for distributor vacuum?  (Good write-up on pg 49)

Cliff Ruggles:
In most cases, the EGR port has a "bleed off" slot, or additional port to kill vacuum signal as throttle angle increases, and does NOT make a good source for the vacuum advance.

Some ports are also slightly higher in the baseplate, which reduces vacuum signal as well.......Cliff
