'been thinking about this for a while, would like to know what the experts have to say.  What if one builds an early QJet that has no APT, not even the early APT or the early APT has it's screw broken, could you use the tip-in method and then do the corrections by removing the power piston and either grinding it (to increase downward travel) or shimming it (to decrease downward travel)  ???  Is this a stupid idea ?   The idea behind this is to be able to run a carb that is more "period correct" for older cars.

Thin stainless washers can be used to shim them, which I've done here a few times to fine tune early units, and the "odd-ball" 1975 carburetors........Cliff
