Recently bought 67 Camaro 350/295hp all stock
Carb is missing round label with model number of carb. I believe it's the original carb. Has fuel inlet valve instead of needle and seat , correct jets for 67 camaro). Carb looks like it has been sand blasted. Probably why it doesn't have the identification tag.
When I bought the car it it idled rough, carbs boosters drip fuel while it's idling. When you shut engine off it continued to drip flooding engine, making it very hard to restart.
Rebuilt carb using rebuild kit from Napa, (5528). It has the new needle and seat arrangement and plug for passage next to the needle and seat. After rebuild I Started engine and gas poured out of the top of carb. Removed air horn, spun engine while holding slight downward pressure on float. Gas was still coming out of new needle valve.
I cleaned the old ball bearing needle valve with carb cleaner and installed it. With same slight pressure on float spun engine and no fuel was coming out, seemed to seal.
Put air horn back on. Cranked car it ran okay for a couple of minutes then started leaking through boosters.
Questions
1. Do you sell the original ball bearing needle valve? If I use the original ball bearing needle valve what goes in the passage next to the needle valve? It had a rubber plug in it when I first disassembled it.
2. The new needle and seat from Napa looks to fine. What would make it leaks so badly?
Thanks

Yes, we sell everything for that carburetor, and or kit includes the upgrades accl pump assembly as well, which NAPA's kit does not. We can discuss other possible issues when you order parts, I see a LOT of those units with that same problem, and it is easy to correct......Cliff

Cliff,
Thanks for your response.
What do you recommend for me:
Complete rebuild kit pieces parts?
Let me know what to order and i'll do it.
It's my wifes car and I have had it apart for 2 weeks. I'm flirting with disaster.
Thanks,
Roger
