Title: float level 17056261
Post by: dhopkins52 on August 05, 2012, 04:22:08 PM
What should the float level be on a 76 455 Pontiac, carb# 17056261? Is the level measured at the toe without the gasket while holding the needle and seat closed ?

The stock setting is usually going to have the float pretty low in the bowl.  This may have been done to compensate for higher pressure fuel pumps in the mid to late 70's, not sure?

In any case, I set those carburetors at 1/4" for most applications.  The only time I deviate from that measurement is if EVERYTHING is absolutely stone stock, right down to the original or NOS fuel pump......Cliff
