Title: straightening a bent casting
Post by: Gator67 on August 24, 2012, 08:57:55 PM
One of the raised ridges on the front of the air horn vent area is bent (on a 7027263 carb), not so much that it interferes with the vent tab, but it doesn't look very good. Is there a preferred method of bending the metal back into shape? Maybe with heat? My concern is that bending it back will weaken and tear the metal.

They break off pretty easy.  Heat is required to bend it.  If it does break you can always get a vent cover and you can't see it anyhow.  Most 68-70 carburetors used a cover over the vent....Cliff
