Are California carbs ok or should they be avoided in favor of Federal carbs? I'm looking at a 17056502 for a 72 chevy 4x4 and it looks like what I want (elct choke, post 1975, Chevy side inlet, auto trans), but it's a Cali carb. Help.

Opps, missed your response to the same question in an earlier post on the Carb Talk and Tips

Tim, there is very little actual difference, other than the California emission standard for any given model year were tighter than 48 State, so expect a leaner calibration across the board, if comparing carburetors by part number, for example 17059206 vs 17059506, etc......Cliff
Are the leaner "cailbrations" are in circuits that can be recalibrated fairly easily?

Yes, same basic castings and respond just as well to modifications as non CA emission units.
Our HP kits include idle tubes, power piston spring assortment, secondary cam/spring, Viton high flow needle/seat assembly, complete HP pump assembly and dozens of other parts not found in over the counter kits.......Cliff

Very good. Thank you very much. I'll be contacting you for the rebuild kit and the bushing kit once I get the carb.
