My late 70s pickup came with a 17058213 q-jet when I purchased it that has among other issues a damaged carb body. I've recently been given a 17085003 carb core that I'm looking to rebuild into the same base calibration. Do I need to do anything to change the calibration of a 17085003 to match the 17058213 other than change main jets and rods or do I also need to change things like the idle tubes, vents, etc in order to get a decent base calibration? Thanks!

Different carburetor, so jet/rod relationships are not the same.
The 213 is an early divorced choke model, with tiny 64 main jets. The later carb is a larger bore single main airbleed unit, with larger bleeds, different boosters, and much larger jets with M series (shorter) metering rods.
I would leave the 003 carb stock and install one of our kits, and test it. It may work fine with the stock settings, unless the engine has been modified with a larger than stock cam, more or less compression, etc.....Cliff
