Title: APT/Float and other settings
Post by: 72Campcust on January 02, 2013, 02:42:57 PM
New to forum (and Chevys/Carbs)--so sorry for all the questions, Im almost done rebuilding my carb.. wanted to double check some settings

Installed Cliffs re-build kit

Carb: 17057512 on a 350 (stock as far as I know, based on the PO)

APT- 3.5 turns from seated ? (It was 8 turns out when i took it apart!!)
--also whats the best way to remove the APT plug so i can adjust once assembled, do i tap and intall a screw/bolt in its place-- i know i found something on this before but cant seem to re-locate it)

Float- manual says 7/16", but ive read 1/4"?

Idle Mix screws?? Where should I set them to start? (i also noticed that one Idle mix screw is a full turn more than the other in order for them to be the same??) (IE right now one is 2 turns out and the other is 3 turns out in order for the tip length to be the same)

thanks!

Regarding the plug, yes, drive it out and then tap the hole for 3/8-16. Do not tap all the way through, just enough to get the new screw (3/8-16 hex screw) either flush or slightly below the surface of the air horn.
