Title: secondary air door - Edelbrock 1910

The "850" Edelbrock RPM carb has a secondary air door with some tabs on the back edge, and oddly positioned holes in the front.  Is there anything to be gained by replacing these with air doors modified as shown in Cliffs book?  Application is a mild SBC.  Thanks!

Never did understand what the tabs were for, and we don't use them when we buid those carbs here.  A solid flap with a small notch works fine.  The idea is to expose the holes to the underside of the flaps to avoid any delay in fuel delivery from the POE system....Cliff

I've built several with the solid doors and small notch (as per your book).  Just wondering if there is any advantage to replacing the doors on the Edelbrock, as it seems that the solid doors with a notch do give a bit better transition.  Have you found this to be true as well?

What are the large holes for in the Edelbrock doors?  They don't line up with the seconday POE?

The large holes would provide any fuel on the flaps a path to get under them.  Way better to use solid flaps with a small notch in them right to start with, IMHO....Cliff
