Title: 7040570 3055
Post by: JamRSW6 on June 26, 2013, 08:31:13 AM
I am looking at a 70 Pontiac GTO Judge that has a 7040570 3055 carb on it.  I believe this car was originally sold in California and the carb is different due to California smog rules of that era.  Am I correct the 3055 is the date?  I was told the original carb had problems back in the 70's and was replaced by this carb.  Any thing unusual about this carb or driveability issues know to exist?  Thanks!

Yes, that is the date. Looks to be a Service Replacement carb. The date code 3055 is the 305th day of 1975.

The CA emission carburetors are pretty lean.  If it shows lean symptoms I'd increase the jetting if/as needed.....Cliff
