Can I get assistance identifying this carb body?  The 1 and the last 9 are struck a little deeper.

Yup. Basically something you bought over the counter when your factory carb bit the dust for whatever reason.

If a service replacement carb for a 1974 application was manufactured in 1980, would it have been made to use the pre-75
longer rods or the shorter later ones?  Can the earlier body run with the shorter rods and if so what would it not do correctly?

Should be pre-75 rods. Stock specs of that carb is .073" Primary Jets, 42B Primary Metering Rods, "K" Secondary Hanger and DL Secondary Metering Rods.

Excuse me, CH Secondary Metering Rods. Not DL.
