Title: Should I cap off this port?
Post by: Jimpala on March 31, 2014, 06:29:07 PM
Hey Guys,
Should I rubber cap off this port, pointing to it with pencil in pic?I believe my old charcoal canister hose was originally plugged in here.
It looks like it feeds into float/air horn vent area up into air horn.Carb#17059505. Thanks, Jim

That is the carb vent. Mine goes to the charcoal canister.

I did once a long time ago, (1971 C-10)  and it cause some issue's. I wish I could remember what they were, I think it was flooding and erratic idle when it was warm.  I uncapped it and ran a hose from it to the bottom of my after market air cleaner and the problem stopped.

I always cap or plug them.  Never caused any issues that I've observed.  My thought is there is plenty of other places for the bowl to vent on a q-jet.
