Title: Tiny detail....big difference?
Post by: Fairlane514 on September 14, 2009, 06:12:08 PM
When hanging the needle on the float "frame."   The small wire that holds the needle, should it be in the front towards the power piston or the rear towards the body of the carb? I know it does not go in either of the two small holes.
Hope this makes sense.

The tiny clip is not needed.  The only time it comes into play is if you happen to let the carb dry up long enough that the resulting "varnish" causes the needle to stick to the fuel inlet seat.  I've never had this happen to my own carb, and it hasn't had a clip on the needle for at least 15 years.

To date we've had one report of this happening on a carb stored over the Winter.  It would not start and stay running in the spring.  The owner reported the needle was "clued" to the seat.  He free'd it up and no more issues....Cliff
