Title: Edelbrock 1904 questions
Post by: MikeB on September 25, 2014, 06:53:28 PM
Just bought a used Edelbrock 1904.  The owner said it was run without an air cleaner (!) for a while, so I want to go through it.  What do you suggest for parts, and are there any things I should look out for?  It will eventually go on a 350 with 195/202 cam, so I expect manifold vacuum to be 20" or more.  Vehicle is an 82 Chevy C10 pickup.  No emission controls required.

Guess I should go read your book, which I bought a few years ago, but thought I'd start here!

Thanks.

Well, just went through your book last night and have a pretty decent understanding of Q-jets in general.  However, the Edelbrock section covers only the RPM carb.  Which Rochester/Carter Q-jet does my 1904 most closely resemble?  And do you sell a kit for it?

OK, I see on your website that you sell Edelbrock kits.  (Amazing what a few keystrokes will turn up!)

I'll call your shop to determine what I need, and to learn about any problem areas to look out for.

The 1904 is a really nice unit.  The Edelbrock 1910 is nothing more than a warmed over 1904, and rebuilt in the same manner, just with much less idle fuel delivery for what you are doing.

No problem supplying a kit and any other parts you would need for it.  It will make a great carb for what you are doing....Cliff
