Hello,
New here at the forum.
I tried filling out the form with a few questions but I suspect it didn't go thru?
My question is regarding a Rochester Qjet carb I have laying around.
Is it possible to get a kit that will turn it into an E85 street carb, and if so, what parts are needed?
Carb has 17086425 stamped on it with 0576 beneath. It is in ok shape with all parts there, but a bit worn down.
Engine to sit on is a Chevy 383 with a mild cam (262/268).
Not sure on heads or exhaust yet, but something around 180-200 street heads with x-pipe exhaust.
Intake is an Edelbrock RPM.
Rear is a 3.73.
Thanks,
Hank

The parts in our kits are fine with E-85. To tune for E-85 the carburetor will need recalibrated, typically takes about 30 percent more fuel to do the same thing as E-10.....Cliff

Hi,
Thanks for getting back back to me. What else, apart from the HP Kit, will be needed and can I order it from you?
And what is the price tag, about?
Thanks,
Hank

Jets, metering rods, and choke pull-off if it needs a new one. The HP kit is complete otherwise.....Cliff

I am interested in doing an E85 Q-Jet conversion for a 1972 GTO with a 400 that has high compression heads from a 1969, it can't run 93 octane due to detonation. Has there been anymore information on this, and a kit that includes everything that is needed? Or are we still on our own for figuring our what jets & rods to use?

I've done quite well at calculating for the correct tuning parts, and quite a few folks are using q-jets with E-85 successfully.....Cliff

Just keep in mind if you build the carb for E85, that is the fuel you have to use. The quadrajet modifications are significant so it won't run well with any other fuel or mixture.
E85 availability is tough in some areas.
