Title: Float Adjustment
Post by: DoubleDingo on November 19, 2014, 10:26:19 AM
Thanks Cliff for the expedited delivery of the power piston retainers and the check balls, I just got them.  Now I can finish my first carb and get it on the truck.

I found factory specs specific to this 17085001.  I have a question about float adjustment.  This carb float is supposed to be adjusted to 12/32".  On the spec sheet provided with the kit, I see many different float levels for carbs within a certain manufacture time frame.  My question is: "If the float is adjusted too little, meaning it sits higher in the bowl, can that cause flooding?  I can see how too much fuel in the bowl could do so if I understand the concept correctly.  And if it is adjusted too much, meaning it sits lower in the bowl, can that cause fuel starvation?"  I am learning a ton as I am doing this rebuild, but am still gun shy on some things.

Those were dumb questions, I know, just trying to understand these carbs the best I can so they won't seem so daunting to work on.

If everything is stone stock, and stock fuel pump set the float at the factory setting, no worries.....Cliff
