Title: loosing power
Post by: old square body chevy on July 05, 2015, 03:03:07 PM
I have a 1984 Chevy 3/4 ton pick up, it has a 350 and an SM 465 transmission. I just got done putting a new engine a new clutch in it and we rebuilt the carburetor and a new fuel pump and filter (2 filters) and it ran great, but now when I let off the gas and press the clutch in it dies. I took it apart yesterday found a whole lot of water in the bowl, dried it all out,put two bottles of heat in the gas tank and filled it back up. it's still running the same way, the throttle bushings are good accelerator pump is good the float to set right,I just can't figure out what's causing it to die when I press in the clutch. it's also hard to start but once you get it running again considering feather the gas and keep it running. some help would be greatly appreciated if somebody has an answer to have dealt with a problem like this before. thank you

If you have water in your system, you need to pull the tank and drain it.

May be related to the rebuild, and hopefully you got a kit from us with good parts in it.....Cliff
