I have a 17059253 carb that is a AC Delco reman that I believe has never been on a car . It has no odor of gas at all . Is this a carb that will be good to use or did they mess them up by rebuilding it , It has the box and instruction sheet in it yet w/base gskt. ? I have one on my 455 and it runs very well but it was rebuilt by a private individual . Thanks

I would put it to the side, JMHO. They are junk.

It's an excellent unit, but as Ethan says being "remanufactured" it may be one to avoid, or at least need a lot of work to get it up to par for what you are doing.
I have more trouble here with commercially remanufactured carbs than anything else, and tend to avoid them.....Cliff

Thanks Cliff and Ethan ; I just happened on this one and it was still in the box . It hasn't been on a car yet and had any gas in it (no smell of gas at filter) so I thought I'd take a chance on it for a few bucks . I may see if the guy that rebuilt mine (17059253) for my 455 will check it over or put it on my 455 in the spring and give it a try !!
