I guess you arent looking for correctness for the quadrajet?
Do you want/need a choke?  And if you do, do you want an electric choke?
You might consider an early to mid 70's Pontiac hot air carb converted to electric choke for a starting point.  If no choke needed, early 70's Pontiac would be divorced choke.

Just my opinion.

Electric choke is preferable.is there a certain carb # I should be looking for?

If I were you, with such a car, I'd try to find an original intake manifold (9786286) and go with a late 70s Qjet.  I did the same thing on my wife's 67 HO Firebird, using a 17059272 from a 301, with electric choke and adjustable APT, works awesome.
