Title: Stripped fuel inlet
Post by: Jeffs68 on May 06, 2016, 06:23:05 PM
So, got the car running with the kit from Cliff's, runs fantastic, but I think the fuel inlet threads finally gave up. Started leaking fuel immediately.

Cliff, I know you repair them, do you sell a helicoil kit so I can handle it?

Let me know what you need from me.

Word is not to try this at home. If not perfectly true it will leak. It's worth the money to have Cliff do it. Good luck.

On the 69 quadrajet, you may be able to get a fuel inlet with longer threads.  Cliff sells those too.  But heli coil is a good permanent fix.

That would be a nice option.

Call Cliff's shop.  I know he has some with longer threads.

The best repair is a heli-coil installation.  For some units that came with very short threaded housings a filter hsg with longer threads will work.

We turn these around in 1-2 days, cost is $45 plus return shipping, and we MUST have the filter housing sent with the carb or we'll have to supply one.....Cliff

Update: So, I got my hands on a inlet with longer threads and the Qjet is sealed up nicely now.

Running great!

In some cases that will work fine, especially if the original fitting was lacking on thread depth into the casting.....Cliff
