Ok, here's the situation. Guy puts new rebuilt carb on his truck. Truck is old (1973). Gas tank is original and I suggest replacing tank. He says that he's got a new filter (inline) and of course the one in the carb and that should be good enough. I say that there's bound to be alot of crud in that tank and replacing would be best. What would be the best solution? new tank, boil out tank or just use a big fuel filter?

"New rebuilt carb", good luck with those, quality control on them these days is pathetic.
Never hurts to run an in-line filter, it should be a very large commercial or Marine set-up if used before the pump. Best to have them after the pump, but I hate using rubber fuel lines on the pressure side.....Cliff

I'm keeping in touch with the guy cause I told him that I think he will have probs. I just adjusted everything the best I could for him. Suggested a prefilter. I guess I'll be installing that when he gets around to it.
