Welcome to the group.
That's interesting, because I pulled a 17058213 apart today to build for a customer. It is a single MAB carb and APT in base which is not my favorite design, but certainly very functional.
As far as best design, it all depends on engine set up and tuning desire.

do you you take out the apt in the base what the best way to adjust it?

Welcome to CHP!
Not my favorite design either. Also, I believe on that one, you have to drill out the plug to get to the APT screw. Another reason I do not like that design.
What are you building it for?

Sorry I have been busy we build it for 350 30 over flat top 410 lift camshaft with 487 cylinder head the reason I was plan on using this body because i 3 of them and clean in good shape as cores plus I don't want to have to much carburetor

Cliff has an externally adjustable screw for the APT in baseplate. It works well. Most originals are very difficult to remove.

The 17058213 is excellent. It's one of the first single main airbleed designs.
I would get one of our kits for it and custom tuning parts. We will include the high flow N/S assembly and HP accl pump for the racing application. It would basically be "plug and play"......Cliff

Have you tried heat? I wouldn't drill it out. No fun. I really hate that style baseplate. :(

Yes I heated it up and frozen I was looking at a few others I have the marine base plates dont have that adjustment would it be easy just to switch the base plate out and not have it ??
