Title: Fuel Leakage
Post by: bigvette1 on March 21, 2010, 09:09:41 AM
Probably directed to Cliff,

On a reworked Q-Jet that Cliff worked on several times, I am having problems with fuel leaking into the intake manifold.  If you run the car for way long enough to heat everything up and pull the carb, there is gas puddled in the bottom of the intake area.  Also, the receassed area between the primary plates has a puddle in it.  I am asking what I should look at or work on to correct this problem.  Other than this issue the carb seems to run well and romps from idle to max.  Thanks
Jim

The only way to determine a leak from the casting is to apply soap/water solution to the plugs and pressure test them by blowing compressed air in thru the jet holes.   We seal up all carburetors that we work on here, and haven't had any troubles with the Marine Tex leaking that we've heard about.....Cliff
