Specs for another Ebay carb. Thanks, in advance. Don't really know why I bought but it looked pretty clean in the pics, missing some linkage is all.

jim i like them carbs , i don't remember the specs ethan probably has them , the ones i had came off 1 ton big block 454 chevy cab and chassis. they had an extra hole in the base plate that went up into the back side if the secondaries. i talked to cliff and he said it was ok to plug , so i tapped the base plate and bearing mounted a 5/16 i believe allen head in it .turned out very nice i installed them back on same engine , cleaned up all the smog crap and they made great power and good milage. fwiw

You have to remember, after 1980 they didn't put the numbers in the books for specific metering rods and jets. Just a metering rod and jet kit. But, I found some online info that shows:
.075" Jets
58S Primary Metering Rods
EF Secondary Metering Rods

I forgot you had said that. I searched on the 58 s rods & saw that Cliff had done one about 4 years ago.
Thanks for your knowledge Ethan.

My notes show it to be a single main, 800 cfm hot air choke Quadrajet.
I pulled 76 jets and 50S rods in one. And DA secondary rods. Not sure if these were original.

Thank you.

That could be true. I don't have one in front of me right now, so I am not sure what it came with originally. I absolutely HATE giving out random information. Sorry, Jim.

Just looked back at my notes on here and I was ALMOST correct, Jim. :P
Here are the correct specs:
.075" Primary Jets
61S Primary Metering Rods
EF Secondary Metering Rods
These are from a 17085213 Q-Jet. Basically the same setup though. 8)

Well, the metering rod and jet kit is the same for both carbs. 17111346. Which I looked up and found an old eBay ad with the parts in it. :D

Ethan, i love a good discussion thats whats great about this forum, why do you think they would put the same jet and needles in those 2 engines , you can throw a 350 in the carb of a 454 , where is all the fuel coming from to feed the monster no pun intended , I'm just trying to figure out gm,s thinking.

No, I completely understand your point of view. Maybe it was different in the 80s. What I mean is different size passage ways. I don't know, Jeff. Your guess is better than mine.

The 17085212 and 17085213 carburetors are heavy duty 454 Motorhome units. They were set up for 454 towing engines, and tuned completely differently than other q-jets from that period. They also take special gaskets and rebuild parts, so you may find them working poorly unless the correct parts were installed during the rebuild........Cliff
