Hi All -
I have a 1970 Trans Am automatic with a 400 Ram Air III with #12 heads, and 3.55 gears. I am rebuilding the engine to stock specs, including cam and exhaust manifolds. I don't have the original carb. It is a California car so the correct Quadrajet casting is a 7040570, non-California is 7040270.
These carb castings are crazy expensive, so I am looking for an affordable alternative. Any suggestions on castings that I should keep my eye out for? Or, possibly someone has a nice Quadrajet for sale that would work well in my setup?
Thanks,
Doug

Any 1971-72 Pontiac carburetor will work fine. They will all have the correct large front vent tube, and divorced choke.
They are easily recalibrated so they will work fine on the 1970 Ram Air engine.....Cliff
