Title: Mystery machine
Post by: Classiclvr on April 02, 2018, 05:24:19 AM
Bought a 1980 Turbo TA and ready to rebuild the carb right. I used a basic kit to do a quick rebuild just to get it running because it was sitting since 1990 and ran extremely rich when I bought it. Wasn't sure if previous owner did it or not. Bought a PEVR valve from Joe at 301 Garage since the original was missing and found out this was the main reason for the overly rich condition. Now there's fuel puddling in the intake. So I want to purchase the HP kit. According to an earlier post I posted about the carb number, this has a service replacement carb on it. Current number is 17066605 1435 and should be a 17080274. This carb has the correct port for the PEVR, P hanger, DX secondary rods,42k metering and adjustable APT. Are there any recipes out there for this carb other then stock? Being a turbo car, any other special air bleed sizes, different jets/metering rods recommended?

It woln't need a lot of help far as tuning goes if it is being used on a stock engine.  With this new fuel we usually go to a larger jet and full tapered primary metering rod to provide more control with the APT system and a little more fuel at heavy and full throttle.

No modifications to any airbleeds, idle tubes or idle system is required.

For sure put one of our kits in it, they will have much better parts, the correct parts and far more complete than anything else out there......Cliff

How many additional steps up on the jets? And are you talking about the custom 50m tapered metering rods? If so, when I order do you need the current carb service replacement number and the original carb number?

Best to call the shop to order.

I would get our SR kit so you can completely/correctly rebuild the carb with the right parts.  We will add the correct tuning parts to the kit as well.  This will include jets, metering rods and power piston spring.

We're here 8am-4pm, M-F EST.....tks....Cliff
