I bought a couple of "junk" Q-Jets at a swap meet and after cleaning one up, (it appears to be a 71 Pontiac) I noticed that there was no ID number stamped on the carb. I cleaned it really well and put it under high magnification and there wasn't any visual evidence that there had ever been a number on it nor were there any kind of marks that would have indicated someone would have tried to remove the numbers. Were any Q-Jets sent out without a stamped ID?

We have seen several unmarked, unstamped. So it is possible.
Check around the base to see if it was stamped anywhere.

7046439 is the bowl casting number. Also, under the inlet nut is stamped 46480.

I believe that unstamped fuel bowls were for a time sold as replacment parts for people looking to replace a bowl with stripped threads ect.
that appears to be a 4MC (attached hot air choke) circa 1973-1974.
