After some research, i see this carb. had hidden idle screws . My carb. giving to me has no base plate. Is there another yr. i can swap on the body for better maintance and performance to make it come alive?? Strictly for a drag car.

Not sure I understand your question, but your cab, 17057274 does not have "hidden" idle screws as you say, as this is a 79 and up deal only, and yours is a 77, with still 10-32 idle screws.

Frank, my 17057274 carb. has no base plate, I have seen on the internet that it had the hidden screws under the caps. Can i go 1 yr. newer on a baseplate and make it work???

Incorrect. The hidden screws were first used on the 17059263 Pontiac 400 4 speed carburetor.
The 17057274 didn't use them and only uses two screws to hold the baseplate to the main casting, the later one uses 3......Cliff

7043308 is the casting number on a 17057274 baseplate.

Both are correct, yes 2 screws. Thanks for the input
