Title: Setting up divorced choke- 1970 L48
Post by: neaswa on July 03, 2018, 05:37:17 AM
Hello forum- I recently had my Qjet rebuilt and can't seem to get the choke working, specifically the choke plate wants to stay full open all the time.  The carb # is 07029207.  When cold the spring where it holds the rod is at the 10 o'clock position and when hot at 2 o'clock and pushes my choke rod against the tin cover.  I'll try to send a pic in another post since i get an error message stating the file is too large.  Please explain how I can correct the problem.- thanks

Disregard, I think I solved the problem.  Apparently someone pigtailed the choke spring where the rod attaches in order to change the position of the rod or whatever reason.  I straightened the spring with some pliers then tested its operation by putting it in the freezer then lightly hitting it with a torch.  Also had to fabricate a slightly longer rod to accommodate a thicker carb gasket .  Either way the choke appears to be working fine now.
