Title: Carb adapter for SBC

Went to install my new Cliff q-jet the other day and realized I had a square bore Edelbrock Performer intake on my 350  SBC.

I don't want to change out the intake so an adapter is in order. Are there any major disadvantages using a spread bore to square bore intake adapter like the one from Edelbrock or Mr. Gasket? It a bone stock 180 hp 350 that's geared for highway cruising. No racing or anything like that.

Will I lose low speed torque or anything else noticable?

They make several different adapters, the fully open type will be the least restrictive. 

Even with that said if it's going on a dual plane intake with a divider in it you may need to put a divider in the spacer/adapter as well. 

I've done a lot of testing with spacers and such and have ran into a few scenarios where using an open spacer or adapter on a dual plane intake that has a full divider in it caused running issues.......Cliff

Yes it's a dual plane intake with a divider and the adapter does not have a divider in it, it's open also.

What kind of running issues will it cause?

Hesitation/stumble/bog hitting the throttle quickly or going to full throttle off idle or at lower RPM's.

Difficult to tune out with some set-ups bit installing a full divider in the spacer/adapter fixes it instantly.

It may also idle better in and out of gear with the divider in place, and more sensitivity with the mixture screws but that problem is very minor compared to the first one mentioned.....Cliff

I used one like this on a dual plane, it worked OK.
It's on a single plane in the pic.

I purchased the Mr. Gasket #1932 adapter kit for the same purpose. A test fit indicates good clearance with the throttle valves. The only nitpick I have is the fasteners for the two rearward mounting points are too short for my liking and will need to be replaced with longer studs.
