Title: Jet and metering rod suggestion
Post by: Kmac74 on November 20, 2018, 04:55:54 AM
Hey, I building a 17054919 carb for a 86 c10 short bed truck. I have worked the idle circuit to match recipe 1 from Cliffs book. My truck has open chamber heads, edelbrock 2102 cam, 204/214 dur.,420/442 lift, 112 lob sep. Headers and HEI igntion. The rear gear is 2.73.
I'm looking for a jet and metering rod suggestion. I will be ordering one of your kits. Thanks for all the help.

Part number 17054919 is a Service Replacement unit.  It doesn't show up in my literature for how it was set-up from the factory.

Identify what jets and metering rods are currently in it, and the size of the airbleeds, etc and we'll be able to nail down a good calibration for it when you call for parts......tks....Cliff

Cliff, main air bleed in body .120, air bleed in horn .120 main well bleed tubes .0240, secondary well tubes .0760. Jets removed were 72's, dont know the rods, i dont have a caliper with me today.

72 jets aren't going to work with that MAB combo for what you are doing.

The factory set up a few large MAB units with small jets, but teamed them up with really tiny metering rods to bring in adequate fuel at part throttle, down around .034" or so, but they work poorly set up like that from what I've seen here......Cliff
