Cliff...Its my first overhaul of a later version qjet,1979 Buick ....I was also able to remove the idle screw plugs easy enough using a Dremel cutting disk and hammer/chisel, ...my 2 questions.... 1)how large can I drill out the idle screw mixture holes? 2)..Is the idle air bypass only used on one side of these type of carbs? This base plate is only drilled on one side.thx, Mike

I would not take the mixture screw holes past .089".
The bypass air isn't drilled yet, that hole is for the vacuum advance port......Cliff

...here is a pic of the base plate and what I think are the idle air bypass...one open and one closed?

Both are closed. That hole supplies full manifold vacuum to the port on the drivers side of the main casting.......Cliff

Cliff..thanks for clarifying what I dont have here, ...any issue with adding a second corresponding hole in that drivers side base plate channel for bypass air?. Adding the passenger side seems fine...Mike

Add the holes to both sides by drilling down from above in the bypass air channels......no worries.....Cliff
